Day 6 of 35: Tour begins
Today we continued to recoup from the long travel to get here.
We’re starting each day with the hotel breakfast buffet. Plenteous, delicious, & a good bargain with super helpful wait staff. Instead of breakfast potatoes, they serve a sort of ratatouille – eggplant, zucchini, peppers & onions sautéed in amazing local olive oil with fresh basil. The local yogurt is amazing too.
We ended the day by meeting our tour travel companions & tour director at dinner. To our surprise, this will be our smallest Smartours group yet: only 7 folks!
Disadvantage: some optional excursions require a minimum of 10, so instead of excursions offered by the tour, we’ll have to arrange our own. But the other travelers are keen to do so as a group when that works, & tour director Blaž is happy to help us set these up.
Advantages: After months of learning names at our new home (& still trying to master them), only 6 new ones is a huge relief.
Also, we’ll be in a Renaud van rather than a bus so we’ll travel more nimbly. And our tour director will also be our driver, so fewer tips!
After dinner we strolled the evening & see the bay at night.

The itinerary includes lots of free time, so if anyone has been to this part of the world & has recommendations on things to see or do, please let us know. Here’s our schedule (Day 1 on this list is today, day 6 of our trip Tour Highlights
