Day 13 of 35: Opatija
Beach day!
Opatija is an incredibly well-preserved seaside resort town that showcases the grandeur of the region’s Austro-Hungarian period. The Franz Joseph walk runs along the entire waterfront and tabs you to many public beaches, cafes, restaurants, & hotels.
We enjoyed a long restful morning then several hours of swimming in the Adriatic, reveling in the stunning, clear beautiful water & soaking up the picturesque panoramas. We had lunch overlooking the ocean & got back to the hotel for a nap just as it started to rain.

We went out for dinner and had incredibly fresh seafood, served by a handsome friendly waiter who might very well have the Adriatic’s most magnificent butt. So we enjoyed that whole different type of scenery while we ate.
There just happened to be a retro music festival in town the days we were there, so after dinner we strolled through the park listening to live music from the 70s on. Rocking!
