Day 18 of 35: Zagreb to Porto
Today, mid-way through our vacation, we ended chapter 1 of this trip. We left the stunning Adriatic coast & flew to Portugal. Our journey was 3 fights, 3 counties, 3 busses between planes & terminals, & no real mishaps.
We couldn’t check in online so got up early to ensure we’d have time to handle everything at the airport. All was smooth & we actually got through check-in & security in record time. First flight was Zagreb to Zurich on Croatia airlines. Brief layover then an even briefer flight to the breath-taking city of Geneva. I upgraded us to the very disappointing business class on TAP (Air Portugal) for our final flight to Porto, but we at least got a free lunch in the business class lounge & a snack (on real china) on the plane.
Fying into Porto was a surprise because it’s surrounded by other cities with no break – actually a huge industrial area. Once we landed we were met by Vito – a very friendly excellent driver – for the rider to our rental.
The accommodation lives up to the hype. Right on the river in the Rebeira neighborhood, amazing views in a super walkable neighborhood. We unpacked a bit then had a tasty dinner at a waterfront Cafe.
